Install OpenRemote 2.0 Controller on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
OpenRemote is not actively tested on Mac OS X 10.5 any more. While these instructions will remain in place, there's no guarantee of their accuracy. We encourage community to provide updates to the Mac OS X 10.5 installation instructions if there are need for changes and interest.
You can do so either through the comments link at the end of this page or by posting questions and comments on our forums.
For Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), installation instructions can be found here.
1. Setup Your Environment
Start the Terminal application and make sure you are using Java version 6.
If you have Java 6 installed but Java version 5 is showing up, make sure to set up your JAVA_HOME environment variable (change the path name to your Java 6 location):
NOTE: OpenRemote Controller requires Java 6 as minimum. It will not work with Java 5 or earlier versions of Java.
2. Install OpenRemote
Start by downloading the OpenRemote Controller. You may also want to have a quick read through the Controller Frequently Asked Questions.
OpenRemote Controller
Click To Download
Uncompress the zip file on your desktop. Change to OpenRemote '/bin' directory and execute './openremote.sh run'
WARNING: Avoid installing OpenRemote into a directory path which contains white spaces. This is known to cause issues.
You should see OpenRemote starting up. Validate your installation by typing into Safari the following address: http://localhost:8080/controller.
You can now enter your Online Designer username and password to download your configuration into the controller:

If you haven't created an online account yet or haven't created a panel design and configuration, read on for some additional links and information how to use the OpenRemote Online Designer.
3. Customize Panel Interface
OpenRemote Online Designer allows you to create user interfaces for iOS, Android and web panels. Before the controller is able to 'do' anything, it needs a configuration from a designer.
