Troubleshoot OpenRemote Boss 1.0 Controller with KNX
KNX auto-discovery is based on UDP multicast in the IP network and is defined in the KNX protocol specification. KNX/IP gateway or router will return its IP address and OpenRemote Boss will use that IP address to communicate with the gateway.
Note, however, that the use of UDP multicast does mean that the network between the OpenRemote Boss installation and KNX IP gateway must allow multicast packets to propagate normally. In many cases, switches and hubs allow multicast messages to traverse within their own sub-net but may require additional configuration if it is desired for the multicast messages to travel across sub-nets (from switch-to-switch). The network interface used with the hardware hosting OpenRemote Boss must be enabled for multicast. The KNX IP gateway or router must be commissioned with ETS as part of KNX installation before it can be used with OpenRemote Boss.
