We currently recommend CommandIR II from InnovationOne as an infrared receiver/transmitter unit to be used with the reference implementation. See details below.

If you know other infrared products you'd like us to verify against OpenRemote RI hardware then let us know on the
forums.
CommandIR II Infrared Transceiver
CommandIR II supports four external infrared transmitters as separate channels and an option for an external infrared receiver (in addition to the embedded IR receiver). It is therefore possible to hide the unit completely for both receiving and transmitting infrared signals. External infrared emitters must be purchased separately. There are no embedded infrared emitter leds.
Note: We had some issues with CommandIR Mini and pre-recorded LIRC data. Therefore we currently recommend only CommandIR II to be used with our ORB reference implementation, unless you know for certain that Mini supports your infrared devices via LIRC. Also note that Mini has reached end-of-life and is subject to limited availability.
